Qualified beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) may continue receiving government assistance even after completing the program’s seven-year limit following the issuance of Executive Order No. 120 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The order allows beneficiaries to remain in the program as long as they are still classified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under Level 1 or Level 2 of the Social Welfare and Development Indicator, which identifies households that still need government support.
The National Advisory Council recommended the extension, saying many beneficiaries were unable to achieve self-sufficiency because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that disrupted livelihoods and reversed development gains.
Under the EO, the DSWD was directed to strengthen its case management system and regularly assess beneficiaries before they graduate from the program. The department must also issue implementing guidelines within 30 days covering validation, assessment and continued eligibility.
The order takes effect immediately upon publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, with funding initially sourced from the DSWD’s available appropriations.IMT
