President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. welcomed new US Ambassador Lee Lipton to Malacañang on Tuesday, June 30, expressing hope for stronger ties between the Philippines and the United States.

The President said the two countries have shared a close relationship for more than a century.

“Our work together will be to promote the relationship to bring us even further. Once again, welcome to the Philippines,” he added.

Lipton thanked Marcos Jr. and pledged to deepen cooperation in security, trade, investments, and people-to-people ties.

The United States remains the Philippines’ oldest treaty ally and one of its biggest trading partners, investors, and sources of tourists.IMT
