Patients with moderate to severe leptospirosis will soon receive bigger PhilHealth benefits after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered expanded healthcare coverage.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the enhanced benefit package will take effect on July 15.
Under the new package, qualified patients may receive up to P63,000 for hospital care, P170,000 for hemodialysis, and P230,000 for peritoneal dialysis.
For severe cases requiring intensive care, total PhilHealth coverage may reach P411,000. PhilHealth also offers free consultations under the YAKAP program and up to P20,000 a year for medicines.
The DOH earlier reported a six-percent increase in leptospirosis cases this year and reminded the public to avoid floodwaters, wear boots when necessary, and wash thoroughly after exposure.IMT
