Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said the Juvenile Justice Law may need to be revisited following the deadly school shooting in Tacloban City.
Lacson cited the 1993 James Bulger murder case in England, where two 10-year-old boys were convicted of abducting and killing a two-year-old child.
“Our Juvenile Justice Law may really need revisiting and further discussion,” Lacson said in a post on X.
The senator made the statement after two minors allegedly opened fire inside a school in Tacloban, leaving three people dead and several others wounded.
The Supreme Court ruled that prosecutors must prove beyond reasonable doubt that a minor acted with discernment before criminal liability can attach.IMT
