A village watchman (barangay tanod) and a welder were arrested after authorities seized almost a million pesos worth of suspected shabu during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Tabugon on Monday afternoon, May 4.
The joint buy-bust operation, conducted around 5:00 p.m., resulted in the confiscation of approximately 140 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P952,000.
The suspects were identified by their aliases as “Toto,” a barangay tanod (village watchman) classified as a high-value individual (HVI), and “Nonoy,” a welder categorized as a street-level individual (SLI). Both are residents of Barangay Tabugon.
During the sting operation, undercover operatives recovered seven sachets of the suspected illegal substance, the buy-bust money used in the transaction, and several non-drug items from the suspects’ possession.
The successful apprehension was a collaborative effort by the Police Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Team 2, Dingle Municipal Police Station, and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Authorities are preparing to file charges against the suspects, whos are currently under police custody, for violations of Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Illegal Drugs), and Section 26 (Conspiracy) under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.IMT
