Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas has signed a new housing code that will institutionalize the city’s PASILONG Program, setting clear rules for selecting beneficiaries and providing housing and basic services to families in need.
The Comprehensive Iloilo City Local Housing Code of 2026, also known as the PASILONG Code, will serve as the legal framework for the city’s Pabalay Para sa Pamilyang Ilonggo program.
“Importante nga may ara kita sang clear policies and legal framework para sa mas maayo kag organisado nga implementation sang aton housing programs,” Treñas said.
The code covers housing and relocation, security of tenure, livelihood and skills training, the organization of homeowners’ associations, and access to education, healthcare and other basic services.
Priority will be given to families living in danger zones, those affected by government infrastructure projects and court-ordered evictions, as well as vulnerable sectors such as persons with disabilities, senior citizens and solo parents.
The measure also provides for a “No Relocation, No Demolition” policy, subject to exceptions and procedures under national laws.
Treñas thanked Councilor Miguel Treñas, who sponsored the ordinance, and the other members of the City Council for supporting the measure.
“With the PASILONG Code now signed, may ara na kita sang klaro kag permanente nga framework para sa aton housing programs, from beneficiary selection to the development of sustainable housing communities,” she said.IMT
