Mayor Raisa Treñas has expressed gratitude for the trust and confidence given by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to the Iloilo City Government and other local government units (LGUs).
In a statement, Treñas said she was happy to hear from the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Marcos that the latter recognized the important role of LGUs in responding to crisis and delivering services to affected residents.
“Nagapakita ini nga ginakilala sang national government ang importante nga papel sang mga LGU sa pag-atubang sang krisis kag paghatag sang serbisyo nga direkta nga mabatyagan sang mga pumuluyo,” the mayor said.
Marcos mentioned the city as one of the pilot beneficiaries of OplanKontra Baha through the Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, or DOLE-TUPAD.
“Nagapakita ini sang iya strong confidence kag pagsalig nga pirmi ginapili bilang pilot area sang nagkalain-lain nga programa sang national government,” said Treñas.
“Importante ini para sa aton bangud ang pagbaha isa sa aton padayon nga ginatubang nga concern,” she added.
According to the mayor, the city government is “ready to work closely with the national government in implementing OplanKontra Baha and other initiatives that will strengthen flood control measures and better protect our people.”IMT
