Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas has launched a new tourism campaign that puts the warmth and hospitality of Ilonggos at the center of the city’s pitch to visitors.

Called “Baton kag Palangga,” the campaign highlights the way Ilonggos welcome visitors and care for their city through simple everyday acts, Treñas said.

These include keeping the streets clean, caring for the river, helping strangers, keeping people safe and offering a smile even on an ordinary day.

Treñas said the campaign is meant to show that tourism is not just about the places visitors see, but also about the experience they take with them when they leave Iloilo.

“I came to see Iloilo. I left feeling loved by Iloilo,” she said, describing the kind of message the city hopes visitors will carry home.

“Tourism isn’t only about places tourists visit. It is about the feeling they take home,” Treñas said.

The mayor said the campaign centers on making visitors feel “Welcomed. Accepted. Embraced. Loved.”IMT
