Senator Erwin Tulfo said the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee will reopen its investigation into the alleged flood control mess once Congress resumes session on July 27.
“We will have a flood control investigation. But if the same names come up again, are we going to repeat it? There has to be new names,” Tulfo said in a radio interview on Sunday, July 19.
The senator clarified that the panel cannot immediately conduct hearings because its membership must first be approved during the opening of the new Congress.
Once organized, he said, invitations will immediately be sent to concerned officials and other stakeholders.
Tulfo also plans to tighten committee rules by requiring stricter scrutiny of affidavits and banning surprise witnesses to make Senate investigations more orderly and credible.
Aside from seeking accountability, Tulfo renewed his push for the proposed Masterplan for Infrastructure and National Development Act, saying long-term infrastructure planning—not politics—should guide government projects to prevent future anomalies.IMT
