Senator Joel Villanueva has filed a bill seeking a P2,000 monthly stipend for indigent persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Under Senate Bill No. 2096, around 3 million Filipinos with disabilities may receive regular cash aid through a standing fund under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The measure also covers transportation, food, medicines, rehabilitation services, assistive devices, and employment support services for beneficiaries.

The program will first prioritize children with disabilities, severe cases, and PWDs already receiving government assistance before expanding coverage to all indigent PWDs.

Villanueva said the bill aims to promote inclusion, reduce inequality, and help PWDs live with dignity while actively participating in nation-building.IMT
