Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano is urging government agencies to simplify compliance requirements for small businesses following the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s suspension of the mandatory online display of its Registration Seal Badge for online sellers and content creators.

The BIR suspended the requirement while reviewing privacy and technical concerns.

Cayetano said agencies should coordinate to reduce the time entrepreneurs spend complying with government rules.

“We should help, not hamper, these entrepreneurs. Our goal is to help them grow within the formal economy,” Cayetano said in a statement posted on October 27.

He said simplifying procedures should not come at the expense of consumer protection, personal information or government revenue.

“This requires a whole-of-government effort. Better coordination can save people time while protecting consumers, personal information, and public revenues,” he added.

Cayetano also thanked online sellers, content creators and other stakeholders, including Senator Pia Cayetano, who raised concerns about the policy.IMT
