Mayor Raisa S. Treñas’ commitment to investing in the earliest years of a child’s life continues to gain momentum through the Iloilo City Government’s Edu-Liit Program, which provides quality early childhood development services to thousands of infants, toddlers, and their families.
Launched on September 12, 2025, the Edu-Liit Program promotes early learning and holistic development for children below three years old by actively engaging Child Development Workers and parents or caregivers.
Mayor Treñas emphasized that investing in early childhood is one of the city’s most important long-term investments.
“Every child deserves the best possible start in life. Through Edu-Liit, we are empowering not only our children but also their parents and caregivers to become active partners in shaping a brighter future for every Ilonggo family,” she said.
The program initially activated eight Infant Toddler Early Development (ITED) Centers, serving as venues where children receive age-appropriate early stimulation activities designed to support their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Strong community support enabled the program to grow rapidly. From September 2025 to March 2026, a total of 2,608 children participated in ITED sessions, with monthly attendance consistently exceeding 250 participants during the program’s most active months.
As of July 31, 2026, the Edu-Liit Program has expanded significantly, with all 201 Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Centers across Iloilo City, including the Talatapan Center at City Hall, now activated as ITED Centers—a remarkable increase from the initial eight centers.
The expanded program has already served 5,240 children through ITED sessions. Equally significant is the program’s strong emphasis on parental involvement. A total of 5,240 parents and guardians have participated in early stimulation activities, reinforcing the role of families as children’s first teachers and active partners in nurturing their growth and development.
