An incumbent barangay kagawad classified as a high-value individual (HVI) was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pajo, Lambunao, Iloilo, on Saturday, June 6.

The suspect, identified by police as alias “Elvis,” 31, a resident of Barangay Natividad, Lambunao, was apprehended around 5:47 p.m.

Authorities seized approximately 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of  P204,000.00.

Also recovered were marked buy-bust money and various non-drug items used as evidence.

Elvis, who had been under active surveillance for nearly two months, was actively involved in an illegal drug distribution network operating within Lambunao and neighboring towns, according to police reports.

In an interview, the suspect, who is also a meat vendor, denied involvement in illegal drug activities, saying that the operation against him was a set up.

Elvis is currently under police custody. He will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
