Senator Panfilo Lacson took a swipe at former Senate president Alan Peter Cayetano, saying previous Senate leaders showed statesmanship during leadership transitions “except one.”

In a post on X, Lacson recalled several Senate leadership changes over the years and said all former leaders peacefully relinquished their posts.

“Save for the last one, everyone else relinquished their posts with exemplary statesmanship and professionalism,” Lacson said.

Cayetano served as Senate president from May until his ouster during a leadership shakeup that eventually installed Sherwin Gatchalian as Senate president.

Despite losing the post, Cayetano continued to question the legitimacy of the leadership change and sought relief before the Supreme Court.

Lacson said the controversy was unlike previous Senate transitions, which he described as orderly and professional.IMT
