President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed Sunday, Oct. 11, changes in his Cabinet, including the appointment of PTV4 General Manager Lino Cayetano as the new Presidential Communications Office (PCO) secretary.
In a media interview in Singapore, Marcos Jr. said he had accepted the resignation of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda, who will remain in his post temporarily while the government looks for his replacement.
“Yes, but we were withholding that; we were holding it back until we found the… we were able to announce also his replacement,” the President said when asked about Aguda’s departure.
The changes are expected to take effect after Marcos Jr. returns to the Philippines.
“When we get back. It’s really just a question of formalizing everything,” he said.
Marcos Jr. also denied plans to transfer Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon back to the Department of Transportation, although he left the possibility of future changes open.
“No, right now it’s a no. But it’s not… all of this is… you know, we can still change, we can still change. But as we sit here together today, no, it’s not moving,” he said.IMT
