The Marcos Jr. administration is proposing a bigger budget for PhilHealth next year, with part of the funds intended to improve benefits for Filipino patients.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the proposed P74.45-billion allocation for PhilHealth in 2027 includes P19 billion for enhanced benefits.
The additional funding will also cover priority health needs, including mental health and severe malnutrition, Castro said.
“Batid ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. ang bigat ng medical expenses para sa mga pamilyang Pilipino,” Castro said.
The proposed budget also includes government subsidies for qualified PhilHealth members, which are expected to benefit more than 11 million Filipinos in 2027.
Castro said the administration is also continuing programs aimed at reducing the amount patients have to pay from their own pockets.
Among these are PhilHealth benefits, Zero Balance Billing and the Medical Assistance for Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients program.
These programs have been extended to patients in 84 Department of Health hospitals and 44 local government hospitals, according to the Palace.IMT
