President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. rolled out a string of programs in the last week of April focused on helping communities cope with rising costs, expanding housing, and boosting energy cooperation.

He first convened the UPLIFT Committee to address inflation and energy concerns, including fuel subsidies and livelihood support for vulnerable sectors.

In Nueva Ecija, the President distributed rice subsidies to small vendors in Palayan City, checked Kadiwa ng Pangulo outlets, and met local officials to assure continued backing for infrastructure, jobs, and education. He also inspected an ongoing housing project under the 4PH Program.

Marcos Jr. later went to Batangas City to launch the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program, where rice and financial aid were given to thousands of residents. He also pointed to ongoing efforts to curb corruption and shield the economy from global pressures.

He announced an increase in PhilHealth maternity benefits starting April 30, with higher coverage for both normal delivery and cesarean section to help ease medical costs for mothers.

The President also met former Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to discuss energy transition and regional cooperation.

In Tacloban City, he highlighted the role of local governments in addressing community needs, led the distribution of rice aid, and launched educational assistance for 690 Presidential Scholars.

Malacañang said job support will continue through DOLE programs as the government pushes to keep assistance and opportunities within reach of more Filipinos.IMT
