The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) arrested two regional priority target high-value individuals (HVIs) and seized more than P4.4 million worth of suspected “shabu” during a late-night buy-bust operation in Leon, Iloilo.
The operation, which took place around 11:13 p.m. on July 7 in Barangay Talacuan, was the culmination of a month-long intelligence gathering and surveillance effort.
Authorities identified the arrested suspects as alias “Eric,” 47, a resident of Barangay Talacuan, and alias “Let2x,” 49, originally from Barangay Tanza Esperanza, Iloilo City, but currently residing in Leon.
According to police reports, the suspects allegedly conspired to sell a heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P15,000 in marked buy-bust money.
Following the initial transaction, authorities recovered a total of approximately 655 grams of suspected shabu.
The haul included the initial buy-bust item and 16 additional knot-tied plastic bags containing the substance with an estimated standard drug price of P4,454,000.
Police indicated that the suspects were allegedly distributing illegal drugs in Iloilo City and surrounding municipalities.
They are currently in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The successful operation was a collaborative effort led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6. They were supported by the Regional Intelligence Division 6, PNP Drug Enforcement Group–Special Operations Unit 6, and the Leon Municipal Police Station.IMT
