President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday, June 3, vowed to further strengthen the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program, saying education remains a top priority of his administration.

Speaking before Batang Maynila presidential scholars in Manila, Marcos Jr. said the program is now being rolled out in about 42,000 barangays nationwide and could eventually cover more than 200,000 scholars.

“Napakahalaga para sa administrasyong ito ang magandang edukasyon para sa ating mga kabataan,” the President said.

Citing EDCOM data, Marcos Jr. said nearly 29% of college students dropped out last year. He said the program aims to help vulnerable students, particularly incoming fourth-year college students at risk of leaving school.

The initiative provides educational assistance to scholars and funding for barangay development projects.IMT
