The Presidential Communications Office (PCO), through its Anti-Fake News Desk, has endorsed to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for investigation and possible legal action three Facebook accounts for allegedly spreading false information about the health of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The accounts “Iloy Bugris: The Queen of Revelations,” “Rigondola Ping,” and “Crage Anderpal” were flagged for posting fabricated claims, including that the President was critically ill, along with manipulated images and a fake news graphic suggesting confirmation of a serious health condition.

One of the accounts also held live broadcasts asking for money from viewers while showing a supposed medical document that was later found to be fake.

The referral follows an earlier PCO endorsement for investigation against the Facebook page “Malasakit News Pilipinas” for spreading false reports on a national energy emergency. It also comes after the signing of an agreement between the DOJ, PCO, and DICT to strengthen coordination against online disinformation.

The PCO said the posts may violate Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The Anti-Fake News Desk said it will continue to monitor and refer similar cases for investigation and prosecution.IMT
