Treñas urges Iloilo residents to conserve water, power as El Niño looms

Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas has urged residents to conserve water and electricity and take precautions against extreme heat as the city prepares for the possible effects of a strong to very strong El Niño.

In a video posted on her Facebook page, Treñas reminded Ilonggos to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and drink enough water to prevent dehydration and heat stroke.

“Ginahandaan na naton ang posible na epekto sang strong to very strong El Niño sa Iloilo City. Gani, magkinot kita sa tubig kag kuryente,” she said.

Treñas also advised residents to monitor official advisories from the Iloilo City Government and prepare for possible disruptions and other effects of the weather phenomenon.

“Magkini-iloilo, kinot-iloilo. Kinot sa elektrisidad, tubig, kagasto,” the mayor said.IMT
