Senator Raffy Tulfo has raised concern over the increasing number of bird strike incidents, warning they could endanger airline passengers.

During a Senate hearing, Tulfo said 953 bird strike cases were recorded in 2025, while 250 incidents have already been logged in the first half of 2026.

“This is not about expecting the worst; it is about preparing for what we already know is possible,” he said, noting that thousands of birds gather daily near the airport during migration season.

Tulfo also urged the DILG to stop pigeon racing near airports and proposed studying the relocation of the Las Piñas–Parañaque bird sanctuary to reduce risks to aircraft.IMT
