Senator Francis Pangilinan has called the rehabilitation of earthquake-hit Mindanao a “strategic national priority.”

Pangilinan backed a Senate resolution seeking adequate funding for relief and recovery efforts following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the region.

He said Mindanao’s recovery is important not only for affected communities but also for the country’s food security.

The senator noted that around 40 percent of the nation’s food supply and 30 percent of food trade come from Mindanao.

Pangilinan is also pushing a measure that would provide an additional P15 billion for rebuilding infrastructure and assisting farmers, fisherfolk, workers, and small businesses.IMT
