Senator Panfilo Lacson has called on the public to stay vigilant after the Senate convened as an impeachment court for Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Lacson said the opening of the court was a “breath of fresh air,” following what he described as a tense week marked by a shooting incident at the Senate building.
He contrasted the atmosphere, saying it shifted from the “smell of gunpowder” last week to a more orderly session this time.
The Senate formally convened on Monday after receiving the Articles of Impeachment from the House of Representatives, which were transmitted on May 13.
The filing came amid earlier tension involving Senator Ronald dela Rosa.
Lacson also reiterated his earlier warning that arrogance of power and impunity have limits, as he pressed for continued public vigilance.IMT
