President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the expansion and increase of PhilHealth maternity benefits effective April 30, 2026.

In a video message, Marcos Jr. said the move aims to make childbirth safer and more affordable for Filipino mothers.

“Maraming ina ang nanganganak na walang doktor… Hindi dahil ayaw nila ng tamang pang-alaga, kung hindi dahil hindi nila kaya ang panggastos,” he said.

Under the new rates, normal delivery coverage will rise to P29,000 from P9,750, while cesarean cases will increase to P58,000–P62,000 from P37,000.

Prenatal check-ups will also be expanded from four to eight, with additional lab tests and vaccines, plus three postnatal visits covered by PhilHealth.IMT
